Hello, thank you so much for trusting me with your new tattoo.

The next 2-5 weeks are critical in giving your new work the best possible chance of a smooth heal. Below are some aftercare suggestions to follow:

  • Dermshield (aka Saniderm, Second Skin): gently remove wrap after 1-3 days, in the shower

    • if you experience irritation from the wrap or sweat bubbles forming underneath, remove wrap early

    • you will experience fluid/plasma build up, if it starts to leak out of the wrap, remove the wrap early

  • Soaker Pad (black) wrap: remove wrap the following morning

  • after wrap removal, gently and thoroughly wash/rinse with mild non-fragranced soap, ensure there is no blood/plasma residue

  • air dry or pat dry with clean paper towel (no used towels that harbor bacteria)

  • moisturize with a light layer of non-fragranced body lotion

  • wash and moisturize daily for 1-2 weeks, or until peeling stops

  • be extra cautious of high mobility areas (i.e elbow, armpit, knee)

  • your new skin will look ‘shiney’ once the peeling is over, it will become matte after a few weeks

Do not:

  • exercise for the first few days, or move excessively until peeling is almost done

  • over moisturize

  • scratch, pick, or rub

  • overexpose your tattoo under direct sunlight

  • submerge in water (baths, pools, especially the ocean) for 2-4 weeks to prevent infection

  • use any alcohol based or skincare products with active ingredients

  • wear tight clothing, let your skin breathe

  • apply sunscreen until after fully healed

Your tattoo should be healed in 4-6 weeks, up to a few months. The above points are aftercare suggestions, not medical advice. Everyone’s skin is different so please adjust your routine accordingly and seek medical attention if you experience severe irritation, redness, or symptoms of infection.

After 4-6 weeks please email me a healed photo.
